Sadie

Hi, Sadie here, ready for my forever home! At 12-months, 65 lbs., I am a fun-loving red fox Lab mix. My foster family says I am a “big orange dufus ready to play and be petted”. Did I mention that I love to give kisses? You should know that about me. If I like you, I might kiss you and flash my jimmy jaws (under bite), which makes me very unique. I am a jewel in the rough and I am rough and ready for car rides, dog park visits and yard play at home! In exchange for this, I will look at you with my wrinkly brow and angel ears and make you smile. I might even dig you a little hole.

My foster home has one other dog, a Lab named Luna. We like to tussle, especially me. Sometimes Luna and I play a little rough, and my foster parents have to separate us. If worse comes to worse, they make me take a time out in my crate, but I really don’t mind and easily go in there to chill out. Sometimes I even go in there on my own during the day—it is my special place. I am a big girl and sleep in the crate at night. Just toss me a bone and I am asleep in the den until morning.

I am looking for a fenced yard so I can run, play and potty outside. Did I mention I am potty trained, but I am still a pup, so I like to go out several times a day and before bedtime. When outside, I really enjoy lying in sun beams, or chewing my Nyla wish bone or a stick (if no one is watching). I’ll chase my little soccer ball, but retrieving is not my game. Once I get the ball, it is mine, mine, all mine!

Because I sometimes forget my size, I’d prefer older kids and adults. I don’t know about cats, because I haven’t met one yet. Lucky for you, I was recently spayed and received all of my adult shots—Ouch! I am heartworm free and taking heartworm, flea and tick prevention. CILRA or my foster mom will give you all the details and a copy of my medical records.

I’m working on training, and I think I’m doing pretty well. My foster parents tend to agree. They make me sit before I go outside or eat, but sometimes I need to remind them to make me sit! I’m still working on “come” on command. I’d say I’m doing pretty well, but they say I come when I want to. I’m treat-driven, and they think this is something I can master with more training and treats. Like most young dogs, I’m pretty curious. If you leave things lying around, I think they’re for me and I may take them. But I easily give them up if you ask nicely. My previous home allowed me on the furniture, but my foster parents don’t. That’s a work in progress, but we think it’s going pretty well.

I am including pictures so you can see that I’m an adorable ginger-snap pup, maybe the right one for you!  I am being fostered in Bloomington, IN.

Adopting a Lab can be a wonderful experience. Your new dog will need lots of love, adequate exercise and attention. Keep in mind that dog ownership may include additional costs for training, grooming, and health care beyond annual vaccines and monthly preventatives. It’s a lifetime commitment!
