Norma

Meet Norma! šŸ¾šŸ’›

Hi. I’m Norma. Yes, that Norma. The 81-pound caramel-colored Labrador snack enthusiast currently accepting applications for my forever human.

First things first: I used to be a breeder girl, so I’m just now discovering this whole ā€œcozy home lifeā€ situation. And let me tell you… I am OBSESSED. Couches? Incredible. Beds? Life-changing. Humans? 10/10, would adopt again.

I’m four years old, house-trained, and generally a very classy lady. I don’t tear things up. I don’t redecorate. I don’t throw wild parties. I simply like to be wherever you are — preferably touching you. Actually, preferably sitting on you. If you sit on the couch, I will gently melt on top of you like an 81-pound weighted blanket. You’re welcome.

I LOVE fetch. Toss a tennis ball and watch me transform into an Olympic athlete. I’d really love a fenced yard where I can zoom, chase balls, and patrol for extremely suspicious squirrels.

Now, let’s address my ā€œspicyā€ side. On leash, I can be reactive to other dogs, deer, or exciting things. I’m working on it! I even go to daycare once a week, and guess what? I’m doing very well. I’m learning how to dog. I’ve started playing with other pups and practicing my social skills like the brave, slightly dramatic queen I am. Busy neighborhood strolls aren’t really my jam yet, but I’m trying my best and getting better every day.

Let’s also clear up some rumors.

Do I counter surf? Rarely. Only for investigative purposes.

One time my foster made scones. She took ONE for herself and left the rest unattended. I waited. I reflected. I considered my options. I took exactly one scone while she was in the shower. JUST ONE. I left the others. That’s called restraint.

Another time, a smoothie disappeared from the end table. Very mysterious. Very confusing. My foster thought she drank it. Until I walked by carrying the empty glass. In my defense, it was abandoned. I was simply tidying up.

I also don’t mind baths. I stand politely and wait until I’m told I may exit the spa. See? Sophisticated.

I’m up to date on vaccines, not currently spayed, and fully prepared to dedicate my entire caramel-coated heart to someone who wants a loyal best friend, a devoted fetch partner, and a professional-level snuggler who occasionally conducts pastry inspections.

If you’re looking for love, laughter, and the occasional missing baked good… I’m your girl.

Love,

Norma 🐾

Norma is currently being fostered in Monticello, IL.

This Lab is currently in a foster home, which is CILRA’s standard practice and allows us to learn more about the Lab before they are officially ready for adoption. It gives us time to evaluate the Lab’s personality, bring them up-to-date on vaccinations, and have them spayed/neutered if needed. If you are interested in this Lab, please keep checking the website for status updates or send an email of interest to cilralabs@yahoo.com.

Adopting a Lab can be a wonderful experience.Ā Your new dog will need lots of love, adequate exercise and attention.Ā Keep in mind that dog ownership may include additional costs for training, grooming, and health care beyond annual vaccines and monthly preventatives.Ā It’s a lifetime commitment!
