Kevin
Meet Kevin – Minion in Dog Form, Mischief Included
Are you missing a little chaos in your life? Do you find yourself wondering what it would be like to adopt a Minion from Despicable Me — but with more drool and 80 pounds of unbridled enthusiasm? Then meet Kevin: an 11 month-old dark chocolate Lab who was absolutely named after that Kevin — tall, mischievous, water-loving, and just a tad dramatic when things don’t go his way. He’s been neutered, and gets along great with other dogs.
Kevin is super smart — we’re talking evil-genius-level smart (but don’t tell him that). He knows commands like sit, lay down, roll over, stay, up, down, stop, and even get. He might be plotting something. Probably snack-related.
But Kevin has one tiny flaw: he forgot to download the update that teaches 80 lb. puppies how to play gently. He’s working on it! He’s also learning that full-speed hugs can be hazardous to standing humans, and that putting his paws around your leg to stop you from walking away is not considered “good manners,” even if it is heartbreakingly cute.
Now let’s talk water. If it splashes, pours, puddles, or drips, Kevin is IN. Literally. Hose? Yes. Pup pool? Absolutely. A good rainstorm? Pure bliss. When Kevin gets going in the pool, prepare yourself: anyone within a 10-foot radius is getting wet. Think Shamu splash zone, but with more tail and less warning.
This lovable goofball also moonlights as a personal produce assistant. Recently, while his foster was picking veggies, Kevin proudly added a stick to the harvest basket — for later, of course. He’s a DIY king: give him an empty plastic jug and he’s thrilled… but he will find the full ones if you’re not watching, and yes, they now leak.
Some of Kevin’s hobbies include:
- Rolling watermelons into the living room
- Snorting like a pig while sniffing everything on walks
- Sitting like a frog (don’t ask, just observe)
- Shredding cardboard like a pro
- Playing fetch with increasing skill — he’s learning to drop the ball like a good boy!
Kevin’s ideal home? One without kids, but with a patient, dog-savvy adult or couple who will continue to guide his lovable, oversized Minion energy with consistent training and structure. A fenced yard and a hose wouldn’t hurt either. Bonus points if you’re willing to pretend you’re Gru.
If you’re ready for a hilarious, brilliant, slightly chaotic best friend with a heart of gold and a splash radius the size of a small pond, Kevin might just be your guy. He’s being fostered in Monticello, IL.
