Meet Coco – A Little Lab with a Big Heart

Coco is a sweet and spirited 8-year-old chocolate Labrador with a heart as warm as her velvety coat. At just 60 pounds, she’s a petite Lab with a giant love for life. Coco is looking for a special Forever Family because she has some unique medical needs. When she first arrived at CILRA, she was unable to walk. She has since been diagnosed with IMPA (Immune-Mediated Polyarthritis), a condition that causes joint inflammation due to an overactive immune system.

Thanks to dedicated rehab therapy, medication, and her own incredible resilience, Coco has made remarkable progress. She’ll need ongoing therapy, daily meds, and regular at-home exercises to stay mobile and comfortable—but she’s thriving and truly a miracle dog.

Coco is everything you’d hope for in a Labrador—friendly, affectionate, and always happy to be around people. She gets along beautifully with children of all ages and other dogs. To help boost her confidence and be her Best Bud, her ideal family will have another dog she can hang with. Her compatibility with cats is unknown.

Coco is house-trained; because of the medicine she takes, she needs frequent potty breaks. She also needs a home where she won’t have to use stairs. Coco’s adopter should be someone willing to provide her with continued physical therapy and affordable generic medications to keep her comfortable and mobile.
